Subject: Ending PEI Vax Pass Program
Good afternoon,
As you may know, earlier this week Premier King and Dr. Morrison announced the end of the PEI Vax Pass Program as of 12:01 a.m. on Monday, February 28. This initiative - which required proof of vaccination for individuals accessing discretionary activities and events based on level of risk - was always intended to be a time-limited measure to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19 in our province, and we recognize that its success in doing so has been because of your support in implementing this public health measure. Your efforts have helped to keep Islanders and visitors safe - thank you for doing your part.
As government prepares to discontinue the PEI Vax Pass Program in the coming days, we will be updating information on our website, including Q&As to help business and organizations who were required to implement the PEI Vax Pass Program wind down that initiative. Below are steps for businesses and organizations to take starting Monday, February 28:
PEI Business Navigator will still be available to support businesses in accessing other COVID-19 business supports from Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and can be reached by calling toll-free 1-833-335-0536 or emailing businessnavigator@gov.pe.ca. Information about support programs can be found at www.princeedwardisland.ca/COVIDforBusiness.
Finally, it is important to note that while PEI will no longer require proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption from vaccination under the PEI Vax Pass Program, Islanders may still require proof of vaccination for travel as per federal government and international policies, and private businesses in other provinces/countries may also require proof of vaccination. With that in mind, Islanders and other individuals vaccinated for COVID-19 in our province will still be able to access their proof of vaccination from the PEI COVID-19 Immunization Record Portal.
Again, thank you for your leadership and tireless efforts to keep yourselves, your staff and Islanders safe under the PEI Vax Pass Program and throughout the pandemic.
Sincerely,
Christopher
