Under 7 Plan
We will be beginning our season this coming Saturday October 24. As I mentioned previously Under 7 is split into two divisions, first year and second year. In the past those who have played before are considered second year and those new to hockey are first year. We have had to make slight adjustments this year to siblings to ensure we have the same households in the same cohort.I will be updating the NRMHA website tomorrow to indicate who is on what team.
We are still in need of some coaches for the first year group so please reach out if this is something you can commit to. I also am still in need of team managers for each team as well as COVID liaison's. These are requirements by hockey PEI. Have a look at your team and if you are able to commit please reach out. For those who have signed up, or are planning to, to coach/manage you are required to take the RESPECT IN SPORT for activity leaders https://www.respectgroupinc.com/respect-in-sport/
coaches you are also required to complete a coaches COVID course https://ehockey.hockeycanada.ca/ehockey/ClinicDetail.aspx?cid=131191

Under 7 ice times will be every Saturday and Wednesday. On Saturday the 2nd years are 8:00am-8:50am and the 1st years are 9:20am- 10:10am. On Wednesday the 1st and 2nd years ice times alternate between 4pm and 5pm. For example, Wednesday October 28 1st years will be at 4pm and 2nd years will be at 5:20pm.
The plan for each ice time...

Each Division will have four teams, ei. 1st year U7- 4 teams and 2nd year U7- 4 teams. The APM Centre will be divided into two sections for both 1st and 2nd year U7. This means that two teams and parents will be in the half closest to the zamboni and the other two teams will be on the section closest to the canteen. You must ensure you stay in your section.

Children are requested to come dressed to each ice time. We recognize that there are many children who are still in 5 point harness car seats and the difficulty this presents in wearing hockey gear. For those children please have them wearing what gear they can if possible.

You must arrive 10 minutes prior to ice time and go into your dressing room.

Teams 1 & Team 2 of both divisions will enter through the main APM doors. Teams 1 will be in dressing room 3  and Teams 2 will be in dressing room 4.  Both teams are then required to exit immediately through the emergency exit between dressing room 3 &4. If your children are required to remove gear please do so as quickly as possible and exit following.

Teams 3 & 4 of both divisions will enter through the exit beside the zamboni door. Teams 3 will be in dressing room 5 and teams 4 will be in dressing room 6.  Both teams will then be required to exit immediately through the same door by the zamboni.

Masks are mandatory for all children and parents in the APM. Children can remove prior to putting on helmets. Parents are required to wear at all times.

Once Children are dressed, have them go onto the ice and parents are required to watch from the stands. You are not allowed to stand and watch along the glass.

Contact tracing is required each ice time. Your COVID Liaison will be responsible for collecting these each ice time and providing to myself.

The Canteen will not be operating at this time so bring your own treat bags ;)

** The Emergency exits are a concern at this time due to the weight of the doors as well as falling ice/snow. Donna has requested a plan from a structural engineer to draft an entrance covering. These will not be constructed for the first few weeks so please ensure you are watching these exits when entering and exiting and open and close the door for your child.

Jerseys will not be handed out at this time, we are still awaiting on two sets of jerseys to arrive and I will update when that happens and then we wi

Under 7... continued
Please have your child arrive in a jersey on Saturday, if you do not have a jersey please reach out to myself and I can find you one to use in the meantime. We also ask that you label the front of your children's helmets with their name so the coaches can easily identify them.
In the past the U7's have hosted a boxing day jamboree on December 27th as well as attended a jamboree on Islander day in Kensington. At this time jamborees/ tournaments have not been approved.
Every Sunday evening I will be sending out an email in regards to upcoming ice times and relevant information to the week ahead. I will also be posting Updates to the NRMHA website under the U7 Coordinators page.
All of the COVID requirements for hockey PEI and the APM facility will be posted to the website as well as the facebook page. Please familiarize yourself with these before Saturday.
Each Parent is required to complete a RESPECT IN SPORT course https://www.respectgroupinc.com/respect-in-sport/
as well as the COVID spectators course offered by Hockey PEI( this has not yet been released). These are online modules and are required prior to November 30. I encourage you all to complete as soon as possible.

** First year parents, we understand that many are new to hockey as well as skating. You may feel your child's skating skills are not strong. Please do not fear they learn so very fast and will be zipping around the ice like little pros before Christmas. Skate aids are not allowed as the ice surface will be divided into sections and will not allow room for children to safely move around with these aids.
