The schedule for the pownal tournament has been released and our games are as follows:

We have had a time change to our schedule for the weekend. Our game in Pownal on Friday is now at 10:50am instead of 11:10am. Remember to be at least 1 hour early for our games.

Also, we have changed our practice time from Wednesday, December 2 at 6am to Tuesday, December 1st at 6am. Another team had a conflicting time so we have switched with them. This if for the noted time only.

Please be advised that we have changed our regular early morning day to Wednesday's at 6am effective next week, November 4, 2015. For this week only, we will be having our practice at 6am on Friday, October 30, 2015 as we have switched with another team.

We have an exhibition game this Sunday at 2:40 against Charlottetown at the APM  Please arrive 1 hour early as we need to hand out jerseys before hand.

Returning players will have first choice then we will draw names out of a hat for everyone after that.

For all other novice players....

There will be four Novice "A" teams this year for NRMHA. For the first week the ice time(s) will be on Saturday, Oct.17th: - 7:00am for those with last names starting with M-Z - 8:10am for those with last names starting with A-L And Monday, Oct. 19th: - 4:00pm for those with last names starting A-L - 5:10pm for those with last names starting M-Z Please try to have your son/daughter in attendance for both sessions as coaches will be starting to evaluate players to ensure that the 4 teams can be as equal as possible.

We would like to invite the following players to the next 2 tryouts sessions.  Final Cuts will be made after the last icetime. 

We will be playing an intersquad game on October 12 @ 5:10 and October 14th @ 4:30 Please look for your team color when you get to the rink and you will be assigned a jersey.

 Try outs begin this Saturday and the cost is $10.00 per ice time.  There will be cuts made after the first ice time and potentially after the second. The final roster will be decided after the third ice time.

Thank You all for choosing to participate in the Novice AA Tryouts.

First thing we need to clarify to everyone trying out is that it is extremely hard to narrow the players down to 15 skaters as everyone has their own strength's and weaknesses. The coaching staff will be leaving all “politics and friendships” out of the selection process and we will be searching for the top players that we feel will make our team competitive throughout the entire minor hockey season.

I want everyone to understand going into this, that there are extra costs (above and beyond minor hockey), associated with playing on a AA team.

• Extra Ice times (we have to pay for an extra 1/2 hour of ice time every week)

• This also includes some extra practice time in November/December (we may look at renting ice from other associations, ie North Rustico and Kensington).

• Gym time

• Island wide travel; we have Novice AA teams from tip to tip and we will be required to travel around PEI to play at these arenas

• We we will be participating in 3-4 tournaments on PEI (we are not allowed to travel off PEI yet), extra costs are associated with these as well.

• Each player will be asked to purchase a “weighted puck” for practice. ($3-$4)

• There will also be some team bonding outside of the rink that will cost extra as well.

If you are comfortable with the extra costs associated with playing AA hockey, please try out. If your child wants to try out and you are not comfortable with the extra costs, please let us know before we make the final cuts and we will be “The Bad Guys”.

This years team we will be searching for Hard Workers, Team Players and Respect for both the game as well as the other members of the team.

We have a few basic rules to start out the season:

1. All Players RESPECT their teammates, coaches, parents, referees, opposing players and the game.

2. 24 Hour Rule... If you as a parent have an issue with a coach/management. You are asked to wait 24 hours before addressing the issues with the coaching staff.

3. 45 Minutes arrival before the game so we can do a proper off ice warm up/pre game speech.

4. 10 minute injury rule... If your child is hurt on the ice during a game and a member of the coaching staff needs to attend to them, they must spend 10 minutes of playing time in the dressing room to be assessed to determine if they are fit to resume play.

5. Spring Hockey comes second.

   Yes people play spring hockey and we understand that, but you are making a commitment to this team for the year and we ask that this hockey comes first. We will do our best to accommodate the spring hockey practices when they happen, as long as we don't have ice time booked too.

6. All players are on a TEAM... Selfish plays will not be tolerated. There is no I in team!

7. If a player doesn't understand something they are encouraged to ASK a coach for an explanation.

8. Players are EXPECTED to come to the rink ready to:

   1) Work as hard as they can.

   2) Have FUN!
