The Peewee Girls N/R FLAMES came out of the Alberton Memorial 2012 Classic Tournament with a CHAMPIONSHIP after posting a perfect 5-0 record. The FLAMES were dominant this weekend as they outscored their opponents 25 - 3 over the five games.

The girls got off to a great start by winning their first game 8-1. Point getters were Lisa Stevenson 2 & 1, Makayla Larsen 2, Brianna O'Connor, Hannah Sentner, Rebecca Smith & Kellyn Laverty, assists to Kennedy LaFlamme , Sydney Wheatley, Emily Sands & Devon Green . Player of the game Lisa Stevenson, Most Sportsman like Brianna O'Connor.

With only one hour between the first two games the Flames had to play, they had just enough time to catch their breath and have a light snack before lacing up their skates to play the second game. The Flames started off slow with a 0 - 0 tie after one period. The second period was much different for the Flames, they scored their first goal at the 10:12 mark of the second and it was no stopping them for the next minute and a half, scoring three more goals by the 8:46 mark of the second. It was all defence from there on in, lead by Maura Barna "A" captain and Jessica Gallant a rookie on the team. Kennedy Laflamme started the scoring for the Flames she was 1 & 1, Makayla Larsen 1 & 1, Hannah Sentner, Emily Sands, assists to Alyssa MacLean, Taylor Carragher & Kellyn Laverty. Game Star was Kennedy Laflamme and Most Sportsman Like was Emily Sands.

During game #3 Saturday morning the girls played an Off Island team from Carleton NB, the Flames won 6-0. The Carleton team played hard and they were great sports. This is the first season for them, and they improved every game they played in the tournament. Scoring for the Flames were Makayla Larsen 3, Kellyn Laverty 1 & 1, Emily Sands 1 & 1, Rebecca Smith , assists to Hannah Sentner 2, Alyssa MacLean 2, Taylor Carragher, Kennedy Laflamme, Devon Green, Lisa Stevenson & Sydney Wheatley. Game Star Makayla Larsen & MSL Devon Green.

Crossovers on Sunday morning vs. Tignish, all the scoring happened in the first period. Emily Sands opened the scoring at the 9:44 mark but Tignish came back one minute later to tie it up. Kennedy Laflamme put the Flames ahead at 6:31 of the first and Hannah Sentner gave her team a 2 goal cushion. Gia Green played amazing in nets by stopping a break away and some good scoring chances. Emily Sands was the game star and Madeline Paquet was MSL player.

Now on to the Championship game against the first place team in the league, the East Prince Wildcats. The Flames are 0 & 4 vs. East Price this season but the girls knew today it was there turn to win. Alyssa MacLean started the scoring late in the second period for the Flames. The score after two periods was 1-0 Flames. Early in the third Hannah Sentner made it 2-0 Flames. East Prince got on the score board at 6:25 of the third , with a goal from there "C" Sarah Clark; however the Flames wanted to win so bad that Rebecca Smith banged home the third goal just 15 seconds later to seal the deal. Game Star was Gia Green and MSL Player was Rebecca Smith. Hannah Sentner took home the Top Def Award for the tournament and the Flames all took home the Banner, Gold Medals and player trophies.

What a great weekend, 1 - 2 - 3 FLAMES !!!!!!!!!
