Our Help for Haiti
Monday, January 18th the Midget A girls' team had a game at the APM Centre against the Pownal Midget girls' team. The game was intense for the spectators in the stands. The game was back and forth in both ends for the whole game. The North River girls skated hard and it paid off. The game ended in a tie at zero.
During the game, the team collected $30.62 of donations for the Help Haiti Fund with the Canadian Red Cross. The team is also donating $100 of their 50/50 money to make a donation of $130.62 from the girls. We have a very compassionate bunch of girls on our team and the coaches and parents are very proud of them.
THE MIDGET A GIRLS' TEAM WOULD LIKE TO CHALLENGE ALL NORTH RIVER MINOR HOCKEY TEAMS TO MATCH THEIR DONATION. Let's do our part to help those in devastation and despair.

Christmas 2009
The North River Midget A Girls went to MacMillan Lodge on Saturday, December 19th to visit with the residents for a Christmas Cookie Party. The girls wore their home jerseys and Santa hats.
Each one brought a dozen cookies. The staff and the residents really enjoyed the girls' treats and singing. They sounded pretty good even when they didn't know the words!!!
It was a great experience for everyone. They had fun! Some of the team were a little taken back by the seniors that could not sit up or talk or even open their eyes; but most of them were tapping their feet and smiling while the girls sang.
One elderly lady cried when the girls went in to see her, she said, "I love hockey" and she cried again when they left, she did not want them to go.
The parents and coaches of the team are very proud of their girls for taking the time during the busy holiday season to show compassion and warmth to some very special people!
