NRMHA Statement On Allowing Spectators Into Rinks

The North River Minor Hockey Association board of directors has reviewed the decision not to allow spectators into the rink and came to a conclusion: the board has decided that if teams want to utilize the spots left after both teams (players, bench staff, managers, trainers, and timekeepers) are accounted for, they may do so, with the responsibility being placed on each team.

This may leave some teams with three spots, or it may leave some with ten spots. It is the responsibility of each team to determine how they use these remaining spots. The rules and procedures will be the same as they have been since the start of this season. Spectators are to enter the rink after all players are on the ice and go directly to the stands after they have signed in.

Volunteers are required to perform contact tracing for anyone entering the arena as they have been all season. These contact tracing sheets should be sent to your NRMHA Coordinator and Crystal Cameron after each game and practice. We understand that this may create more work for our volunteers; however, it is to ensure we keep the safety and health of all players, coaches, and fans as a top priority. There is no room for error during these times.

Please note that the U7 and U9 divisions will be unchanged as they will utilize their remaining spots for volunteers to assist with ice times.

All NRMHA teams should keep in mind that, although we are doing this at both the APM and Crapaud rinks, most other rinks will not be allowing any spectators. We remind you to be respectful of these decisions and volunteers as we all maneuver through the new normal surrounding minor hockey.

Sincerely,

The NRMHA Board of Directors
