Print Email Story tool nameclose tool goes here Monday Dec 14 2009Comments (0) Recommend (1)Firstplace Ams bust Broncos 62By Annie Fowler Herald staff writerKENNEWICK Once the TriCity Americans get on a roll its hard to stop the trainRookie Patrick Holland had two unassisted goals and Johnny Lazo two shorthanded goals as the TriCity Americans beat the Swift Current Broncos 62 in WHL action Sunday at Toyota CenterWhen you spread it out work hard and pay attention to details good things happen said TriCity coach Jim Hiller We earned six of eight points this week The game in Seattle (51 loss) we felt we deserved to win but if you take the week as a whole we are happy The Americans (24900 48 points) increased their lead in the US Division to five points over Portland and moved ahead of Vancouver for the top spot in the Western ConferenceSwift Current (171602 36 points) is 11 to start its swing through the US Division The Broncos are at Everett on WednesdayI didnt like the way we started said Broncos coach Mark Lamb When you play a good team you cant turn the puck over as much as we did We werent really in it the whole game Our goalie (Mark Friesen) kept us in itAfter a scoreless first period the Americans finally got their game on track scoring four unanswered goals by four different playersBrendan Shinnimin broke the scoreless tie with a wraparound goal on the power play at 902 for his 20th goal of the seasonLazo followed up with his first shorthanded goal at 1322 Jarrett Toll started the play knocking the puck away from Swift Currents Taylor Vause at the blue line and sending it up ice to Lazo who put a nifty move on Friesen for a 20 leadTriCitys Jordan Messier whos been in a scoring slump since his last goal on Nov 6 got back on track late in the second following up on a shot by Riley McIntosh at 1759Mess has been snake b...
