Just WOW! The mites went out and represented LAHA in a grand fashion They went undefeated in their bracket by beating a team from Idaho and two teams from TriCity Then in the Finals they beat another very good team from Spokane The only loss they had was against the select team from Portland This is the same Portland team that is playing in our tournament but at the squirt level According to their fans and coaches we were their toughest competition by far But in the end they were just too deep 1st place in our Bracket and 2nd place overall! The first trophy for our MitesSquirt in at least three seasons! Before I get to the player breakdowns let me just say that all the kids as a group played amazing Coach Baslaw said it best They just looked at each other and refused to let their teammates down They left everything they had on the ice So here we go Henry Hyland Defense Henry was asked to defend the opposing teams top lines more than a few times This is his first season in hockey and his first time playing defense He did great There were countless times when he would create turnovers in the neutral zone and stop the opposing team from a rush He also created opportunities by taking the puck deep into our offensive zone (Giving Coach Dave a heartattack) He worked extremely hard every shift and was a very solid in his own end Finn Hortado Defense Finn is a terrific skater and solid competitor HE NEVER gives up He is a very explosive and exciting player to watch Because of his skating ability he was able to take more chances offensively There were a few times when the puck would go the other way and Finn would be off to the races to strip it from the opposing team Finn learned a lot this weekend and he will learn a lot more in the next tournament With his skating ability his competitive nature and his size Finn will be a force in the years to come Jackson Huston Defense So the conversation went like this Coach Baslaw Jackson are we going to do any football stuff out there todayJackson YesBaslaw NOOOOOOO!Physical passionate strong Jackson is an incredible athlete He is one of the most improved kids for the season C...
