Friday March 21Thrashers celebrate successful season Kai Barber was named Offensive Player of the Year and coMVP The Kennesaw Pee Wee Junior Thrashers celebrated a successful 200708 season March 20 with a gathering of friends and family at Five Guys Restaurant on Chastain near their home ice at Town Center Ice Forum Each of the players coaches and supporters was recognized for achievements and contributions during the season Each of the Kennesaw Thrashers who finished their season with a 30318 mark were recognized with medals and team photo plaques Head coach Eddie Orzechowski also offered comments on the successes and growth of each individual player During their year the Thrashers placed second at the Orlando MLK Invitational third at the Charleston Face Off Challenge and fourth in the SYTHL East During their campaign Kennesaw also competed in the Ellenton FL Labor Day Challenge the Florida International Holiday Classic the Nashvillle Country & Western Showdown and qualified for the Southern Youth Travel Hockey League playoffs At the awards program Alexis Gray was named the teams Most Improved Player and Jacob Severn was honored as the Thrashers Defensive Player of the Year Eddie Orzechowski who led the team with 39 assists was recognized as Playmaker of the Year while the teams leading scorer Kai Barber was named Offensive Player of the Year In 66 games Barber scored 61 goals and had 34 assists for a 95 point season Barber and goalie Chaz Wilson (photo right) were named coMost Valuable Players Barber led the team with a plusminus rating of 24 11 power play goals 8 gamewinning goals and 620 faceoff wins Barber scored on 165% of his shots played in 66 of the teams 69 games and added 3 shorthanded goals Wilson started 37 games ...
