API Hockey Pros Panthers drop last game before break Athletics Main Site University of Prince Edward Island UPEI Home Future Students Current Students Alumni & Friends Parents & Family Staff & Faculty Contacts SuckerfishHome Campus Recreation & Club Sports Athletics Facilities Schedule & Scores Athlete of the Week Contact Us Partnerships Box Office Recruitment Panther Sport TeamsMens Soccer Womens Soccer Womens Rugby Field Hockey Mens Basketball Womens Basketball Mens Hockey Womens Hockey Swimming Panthers drop last game before break UPEI Womens BasketballHeadlines Roster Coaching Staff Schedule & Scores Standings & Stats History & Awards Sponsors & Links Basketball Blog Playing their final games before the Christmas break the Panthers were hoping to play 40 solid minutes of basketball Saturay against the visiting St FX teams Both teams played well for most of the night but each team had a lapse which cost them in a pair of losses in Atlantic University Sport action at the UPEI Sports Centre The men Panthers fell 10088 to the conferenceleading XMen while the UPEI women dropped an 8865 decision In the womens game the Panthers (07) opened up their contest on the right foot finishing the first quarter with a 2018 lead Over the next 10 minutes the XMen (51) took complete control as they dominated the second quarter outscoring the Panthers 2912 to take a 4732 lead at the intermission UPEI was able to trade baskets with St FX for the second half but could never get an offensive run strong enough or a defensive stop for more then a few possessions to over come the deficit UPEIs Myra Donkin led the way offensively scoring a gamehigh 23 points with five assists and five rebounds on the night while Amber Glasser chipped in with 12 points and Suzanne Canvin had nine points and 11 rebounds Tory Anderson led the XWomen with 19 ponts while Jacquelyn Richardson had 16 and Ashley Stephen had 15 Vlad Farcas and Manock Lual scored six points each as the Panthers (25) took a 126 lead in the first four minutes of the mens game The Panthers played solid mistakefree basketball as they led the nations thirdranked XMen (60) at the end of the first quarter 2114 The teams traded the lead several times and at the break the teams were tied at 38 apiece Summersides Mike Hardy gave the Panthers a quick 4438 lead as he hit two threepointers and came up with a steal on three straight possessions UPEI was ahead 5349 with 430 left on Jovan Geddess threepointer but it was the last time the Panthers had a lead as the XMen went on a 100 run sparked by some pressure defence and some long range shooting by Tyler Richards and Christian Upshaw who took over the game for the last 15 minutes St FX outscored UPEI 3118 in the fourth quarter to keep their unbeaten AUS record intact Andrew Black scored...
