API Hockey Pros UPEI Swim Panthers Make Waves Athletics Main Site University of Prince Edward Island UPEI Home Future Students Current Students Alumni & Friends Parents & Family Staff & Faculty Contacts SuckerfishHome Campus Recreation & Club Sports Athletics Facilities Schedule & Scores Athlete of the Week Contact Us Partnerships Box Office Recruitment Panther Sport TeamsMens Soccer Womens Soccer Womens Rugby Field Hockey Mens Basketball Womens Basketball Mens Hockey Womens Hockey Swimming UPEI Swim Panthers Make WavesUPEI SwimmingHeadlines Team Members Coaching Staff Schedule & Scores UPEI Friday October 16 2009at Game Time 544 pm A great start to the 200910 swimming season is on the books for the UPEI Panther Swim Team Both men and women travelled to Fredericton to compete in the annual Amby Legere AUS Swim Meet hosted by UNB The 15person squad (4 men 11 women) went up against tough competition and posted exceptional times for this early in the season The veteran members of the team had been given the challenge of posting YeartoYear best times or swimming within a percentage of their lifetime bests In nearly 90 per cent of the cases the team far surpassed the challenge set in front of them some even achieving lifetime best resultsCarrie Mills had terrific results posting lifetime best swims in the 50 Freestyle and 100 IM The 50 Fly was a fantastic race for veterans Stephanie Landry and Maranda Grant Landry went under 34 seconds for her race narrowly missing a lifetime best but dropping seventenths off last years result Grant stopped the clock in a lifetime best 3424 seconds Marianne Parent had her most impressive swim of the weekend in the 100 Freestyle Her 560 second improvement off last years time was nearly the most improved over the weekend Veteran male swimmers Alexander MacDonald and Eric Beaton both posted impressive swims MacDonald was under his YeartoYear times in every event Beaton posted a 5thplace finish in the Splash n Dash 50 FreestyleMikhala Brinklow was the most improved over the weekend getting YeartoYear best times in all five individual events she swam Her largest improvement came in the 200 Freestyle with a reduction of 739 seconds Top female performance honours go to Sydney Morley (rookie) for her 5thplace result in the 800 Freestyle The race was wellpaced with Morley almost negativesplitting the 32length event Top male performance went to the 4x50 Freestyle relay (Eric Beaton Andrew Harding Ryan Mills Alexander MacDonald) placing 3rd behind Dalhousie and UNB The boys were in a tight race the whole way outtouching Acadia by only fourtenths of a secondTia Quilty was stellar in all three backstorke events Her times were all improvements off lasty year times at the meetTwo of our rookie squad Katie Carter and Bridget Carter were swimming in their first competitive meet of their ...
